A group of 10 youths have been arrested between 17-20 July 2020 on suspicion of dangerous riding of PMDs and PABs. The police made the arrests based on a video which circulated online in July after investigations led to establishing their identities. A total of 8 men and 2 women between the ages of 16-25 were taken into custody, as well as 2 PMDs were confiscated.
The video shows the youths riding in a group on roads around the CBD at high speeds including up Sheares Avenue.
Dangerous riding carries penalties of jail terms of 12 months, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both. If convicted of riding a personal mobility device on a road, perpetrators face a jail term of up to three months, a fine of up to S$2,000, or both.
