Senior eye specialist Lennard Harold Thean See Yin has made his court defense on Wednesday, February 19. He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the incident of “tailgating and throwing an unopened wine bottle” at a Grab driver’s vehicle.
As reported in Today Online, Thean’s defense claimed he has been diagnosed with “major depressive disorder”, that is likely a trauma caused by a kidnapping attempt on his person when he was four years-old. This diagnosis only came after the incident.
Thean’s psychiatrist, Dr Stephen Phang testified in court that the ophthalmology specialist suffered from “morbid fears of mortality” and thus resulted in his actions of “a rash act endangering the personal safety” of the Grab driver, Martin Lu.
Sentencing is set for March 18, as the judge has ordered for a report to assess his suitability for a mandatory treatment order.
