During the circuit breaker period, it appears that a few members of the public consider the lack of vehicles on the road as an opportunity to break the law by using the PMDs.

Two months back, on April 11, the following video was posted on social media. There were at least three young boys riding along CTE on their PMDs, going over 45km/h as seen on the speedometer. The lack of vehicles on the road is a probable reason why they decided to go for a joy ride on the expressway.
Some netizens mentioned that there is currently “quite a significant number” of PMDs in prohibited areas, especially in the evenings and early mornings.
Recently, a teenager out on a late-night ride on his e-scooter in Punggol collided with a motorcyclist and caused him to be hospitalised. The teen pleaded guilty to two charges of committing a rash act that endangered the personal safety of others, and have to undergo a 15-month probation and perform 50 hours of community service.
Anyone caught riding a PMD on the road or using unregistered PMDs or power-assisted bicycles are liable to a jail term of up to three months or a fine of up to S$2,000, or both.
