Three cars moved off during bus priority signal at Collyer Quay Church St intersection.
This incident occurred on May 19, and two cars followed the first car when it drove away without double checking the traffic light.
Bus signal priority scheme
Signal priority, which is also known as ‘B Sign for Buses’ is given to buses at traffic light junctions by providing them a head start, allowing buses to turn right at the downstream junction. This is especially useful on large roads with heavy traffic.
This scheme adds an additional traffic light indicator (B sign) to traffic junctions, allowing buses on the leftmost lane to proceed before the traffic junction turns green for all traffic. The indicator flashes green to indicate that the bus signal priority window has ended.
