Alfa Romeo Giuletta rammed into the tree causing its left front wheel to be dislodged.
Most of the air bags were also deployed, meaning that the car was travelling at a high rate of speed.
The police, who were alerted to the incident at 12.49pm on Thursday, said that the driver refused to be sent to the hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
