On December 19, 2024, the Ten Square Landmark of Good in Singapore was transformed into a hub of celebration as ROADS.sg hosted its much-anticipated annual Awards Night.
The event was a tribute to the individuals, organisations, and innovations that have made significant strides in promoting road safety, fostering responsible road use, and enhancing the automotive experience in Singapore.
The event brought together prominent figures in the automotive and road safety industries, community advocates, and kind-hearted individuals whose actions inspire change which aims to spotlight their efforts, encourage innovation, and promote a culture of kindness and accountability on Singapore’s roads.
Recognising Excellence Across Award Categories
This year’s awards featured 5 distinct categories, each celebrating a unique aspect of road safety and the automotive ecosystem:
1. Best Car and Bike Sales Consultants
These categories honor sales professionals who go above and beyond to deliver exceptional service, ensuring their customers’ needs and safety are prioritised.
2. Road Safety Champion Awards (Company and Individual)
The Company/Association category recognised organisations that implement innovative safety initiatives or groundbreaking policies to improve road safety.
The Individual category celebrated road safety advocates whose efforts and actions directly impacted their communities.
3. Most Gracious Road Users
This award highlighted everyday road users whose small but meaningful acts of kindness help create a more compassionate driving culture.
4. Best Automotive Safety Gear/Gadget
Innovation took center stage in this category, honouring groundbreaking products designed to enhance safety on the road.
5. Most Viral Road Kindness Video
This category showcased uplifting stories of kindness captured on camera, reminding everyone of the profound impact of a helping hand.
Setting the Stage for Excellence
The evening began with an energetic welcome from our charismatic emcee, who captured the spirit of the event with a powerful opening speech. Following her introduction, the ROADS.sg team delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of collaboration between individuals, companies, and communities in achieving safer roads for all.
The distinguished judging panel was then introduced, showcasing a diverse group of professionals dedicated to road safety and innovation.
Among them were Rex Tan, President of the Singapore Motor Cycle Trade Association, and Michelle Tay, Director of the Singapore Kindness Movement.
The Award Winners: A Celebration of Excellence
Best Car and Bike Sales Consultants
The evening began with the Best Car and Bike Sales Consultants categories, celebrating professionals who exemplify exceptional service and prioritize customer safety in their work.
Logan from Vin’s Auto was awarded the Gold for Best Car Consultant, while Daryl from Jack Cars earned the Silver, both recognised for their dedication to providing an outstanding car-buying experience.
In the Best Bike Consultant category, Chong Wei from Ducati claimed the Gold, and Arissa from Royal Enfield secured the Silver, highlighting their passion for connecting customers with the perfect ride while ensuring safety remains a priority.
Road Safety Champion Awards
Next came the Road Safety Champion Awards, honouring both companies and individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted road safety. In the Company/Association category, SBS Transit and the Singapore Motor Cycle Trade Association (SMCTA) shared the Gold for their trailblazing initiatives. SBS Transit was commended for its “Be Safe, Be Seen” campaign, a vital effort to educate road users about bus blind spots.
Meanwhile, SMCTA was recognised for its youth-focused safety training programs, which foster a culture of responsible road use among young riders.
Deliveroo and McDonald’s were awarded Silver for their efforts in implementing robust safety measures, including rider training programs and advanced safety monitoring systems.
In the Individual category, five exemplary individuals were celebrated for their tireless dedication to road safety. Crisanta Guiquing, Aaron Pok, Chew Lip Heng, Gina, and Sam Tan were each recognised for their unique contributions.
From organising educational campaigns and volunteering at road safety events to directly assisting road users in need, these champions exemplify the power of individual action in creating safer roads for everyone.
Most Gracious Road Users
The spotlight then turned to the Most Gracious Road Users, a category that honoured those whose small yet impactful gestures brought positivity and kindness to the roads.
Goh Yong Wei received the Gold for his extraordinary actions, while Liu Yang and Edmund Ho earned Silver.
Their thoughtful behaviour serves as a poignant reminder of how simple acts of kindness can transform the driving experience for everyone.
Best Automotive Safety Gear and Gadget
In the Best Automotive Safety Gear and Gadget category, innovation took center stage.
KLIM Gears was awarded the Gold for its cutting-edge safety designs, while Wow! Gadgets earned the Silver for its practical and reliable solutions. Both winners demonstrated a commitment to enhancing road safety through technology, paving the way for safer journeys.
Most Viral Road Kindness Video
The night also featured the Most Viral Road Kindness Video category, which showcased heartwarming acts of kindness on the roads. Videos such as “Helping the Chicken to Cross the Road” and “Biker Helps a Stranger With a Flat Tyre” captivated the audience, illustrating the profound impact of compassion and humanity.
These stories not only inspired those in attendance but also served as a powerful reminder of the positive ripple effect one act of kindness can create.
