Driver’s Reckless Behaviour Did Not Stop There
However, this was not the end of the vehicle’s reckless spree.

This narrow escape by the motorcyclist a testament to the reckless behaviour poses to other road users.

In the later part of the recording, the car could be seen coming to a halt in the middle of the intersection, within the yellow box which obviously caused further inconvenience and potential danger, as other vehicles, including several buses, had to weave around the stationary car.
Disturbingly, the driver even opened the door while staying within the intersection, causing further obstruction to oncoming traffic.

Driver Seen Behaving Aggressively Before the Reckless Act
Multiple accounts, including those from STOMP and AsiaOne, have highlighted that the incident seemed unprovoked. The bus was stationary, waiting at a red light, when the car decided to strike from behind.
The motivations behind such a rash act remain unclear. Speculations range from road rage to a mentally unwell driver, but as of now, the reasons remain unknown.
Coverage from AsiaOne also brings in another perspective, sharing insights from a Stomp contributor, Aliff, whose relative captured the incident.
According to the account, even before the recording began, the car driver was already displaying aggressive behaviour, honking incessantly at the bus.
The contributor’s description paints a picture of an irate car driver purposely targeting the bus, even risking collisions with other unsuspecting road users.
This incident has raised numerous concerns. Firstly, the safety of road users is paramount, and such unpredictable and dangerous driving poses a significant risk.
Secondly, it highlights the challenges bus captains face. Despite the shocking incident, the SMRT bus captain continued service, ensuring passengers weren’t unduly affected, and promptly informed the relevant authorities.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the incident. SMRT has since filed a police report, and investigations are currently ongoing.
For the safety of all road users, it’s crucial for drivers to remain calm and composed, prioritising the well-being of all rather than giving in to anger or other emotions.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the need for patience and consideration on the roads.
