Commuters will have to pay higher bus and train fares from Dec 28. The Public Transport Council announced the changes as part of its annual fare review exercise. Working adults pay 9 cents more per journey, and for the first time, polytechnic and diploma students will travel at the same concessionary rates as other students. To help cope with the hike, the authorities announced the largest number of public transport vouchers ever — worth $50 each — to help 450,000 households.
